Leading Telecommunications
Company
Applied Reasoning consultants have been involved with technical leadership
of one of the largest distributed computing systems deployed in the telecommunications
industry. Applied Reasoning consultants developed a new international telecommunication
consortium developed architecture known as the Telecommunications Information
Network Architecture (TINA). Applied Reasoning personnel were instrumental
in assisting the customer in the development of the telecommunications management
and technology approach, as well as the formulation of a systems plan for
the migration of back-office systems to new technologies. The core component
of the provisioning system is now web-enabled using Classic Blend.
Healthcare Software Provider
Applied Reasoning personnel completed a database conversion project for a
healthcare software provider. Applied Reasoning converted the customer's large
database from an object-oriented database management system to an Oracle relational
database system. A large portion of the project was focused on the development
of a new transaction management and persistence management system, based on
top of Object People's object-to-relational database mapping tool called TopLink.
Applied Reasoning personnel performed extensive design work to the Oracle
database system and tool development to help extract the domain object models
for the existing code.
Government Funded Laboratory
Lawrence Livermore National Labs created a very large application for managing
all of the operations and finances of the Livermore Lab. Lawrence Livermore
selected Classic Blend by Applied Reasoning as their tool for creating a Java
ultra-thin client architecture for deploying their application to over hundreds
of users on their Intranet. One of the major reasons for selecting Classic
Blend by Applied Reasoning was its performance and scalability. Applied Reasoning
provided substantial support to Livermore's during design and implementation.
This project became a case study included within a 1999 publication dealing
with distributed computing, entitled, Distributed
Smalltalk Survival Guide by Terry Montlick
Award Winning Web Insurance
Application
Applied Reasoning staff provided mentoring and technical guidance for a leading
auto insurance provider's Web policy service application. Developed using
Web services in IBM VisualAge, our team guided object-oriented design, pattern
application, test automation, and tuning for performance and scalability.
In addition to one-on-one mentoring and classroom instruction, Applied Reasoning
provided a collaborative internal Web site as a repository for team learning
and coaching.
Leading Financial Institution
Applied Reasoning personnel architected, designed, and lead a team that developed
a loan processing "router" system. The software serviced a variety of different
channels including web-sites, call centers, and custom third-party interfaces.
Requests for different financial products and queries were accepted, analyzed
and forwarded to the appropriate back-end processors. The system provided
a single point of contact for the entire institutions customer facing
systems. It reduced costs by eliminating the need to develop new systems and
simplified maintenance of existing systems. The project used a variety of
components and technologies including WebSphere, MQSeries, XML, and J2EE.
